Lawmakers approved the 2019 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday last week, meaning that certain qualifying disaster preparedness items will be exempt from sales tax from Friday, May 31, 2019 to Thursday June 6, 2019. The official start of the hurricane season begins on Saturday, June 1, and lasts through Saturday, November 30--make sure you are prepared and stock up on needed supplies during this sales tax holiday.
Some of the qualifying items include; batteries, lights, radios, tarps, ground anchoring systems, portable generators, fuel tanks, storage coolers and reusable ice. For more information as to qualifying items and price limits, click here.
Lawmakers also approved a "back-to-school sales tax holiday", which runs from Friday, August 2, to Tuesday, August 6, 2019. The Florida Department of Revenue will release more detailed information as to qualifying items for the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday sometime in July. Once the information is available we will post it on our website, so keep tuning in!
